One of the most asked questions is regarding choosing a formula and shade for foundations. Today we’re going to talk about the full line of Mineralicious! Foundations
Foundations – what is the difference in the formulas?
Sheer Glow is our “lightest” coverage foundation. Made with a mix of sericite and titanium dioxide, it provides a light coverage with a hint of color. This formula is great for women who need to slightly even out their skin tone and a sheer coverage. Of our 3 formulas, this is the formula with the “glow” that many mineral company foundations have. Ingredients also include oxides and mica.
Satin is our “medium” coverage foundation. The Satin formula has a blend of rice powder, kaolin, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. It provides a satiny finish. This formula is good for most women. Our Satin line also includes oxides and mica as ingredients.
Matte is our “full coverage” foundation. It provides more of an opaque coverage without feeling heavy. It has more of a flat finish and works well for women with mature/experienced skin. This formula also contains the most titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, both great for sun protection as well as soothing the skin. The Matte line ingredients include titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, magnesium stearate, kaolin, rice powder, oxides and mica.

How to pick a shade
We have 6 different shades of mineral foundation: Creamy Ivory, Creamy Beige, Medium, Medium Tan, Tan and Caramel Cream. The Creamy Ivory is the lightest and is meant for very fair skin. The Creamy Beige is a touch darker than the Creamy Ivory and is for fair to not quite medium complexions. The Tan is darker than the Creamy Beige with Caramel Cream being the darkest of all. We also have “cool” and “warm” foundation shades.
We know that choosing a foundation blend and color can be a daunting process, so we have both shade samplers as well as formula samplers.
Warm? Cool? Neutral?
As if choosing a formula and shade wasn’t enough to drain your brain, we also have tone to deal with lol The Warm tones have a yellowish undertone and the Cool tones have a pinkish undertone. The basic concept is to look at the color chart and determine which colors you look best in. If you look awesome in colors from both sides, you are neutral. If you look better in the colors on the warm side, then you are “warm”, same thing on the “cool” side. However, just like with any other rule, there are exceptions! Some people use hair & eye color to base which tone family you should be in. When in doubt, always order samples first before a full size
